Hey lovely people
Some of you may have seen last week a great shot of Chris and Courtney in the studio working on the album. Well here's another great shot from that session.

The good news is that Court is doing okay, well enough to do a show every once in a while and to make some progress on the new albums.
That’s right, albums plural.
Not only are we tracking the new Murphy Brothers album (with some non-album singles very close to completion) we’re also revisiting the tracks from our 1999 Murphy’s Lore album Best Laid Plans. We’ve been pulling the tracks apart from the original master tapes and reworking and updating some of the parts. Stay tuned, there’ll be more on that project later this year.
Elsewhere, we’ve got loads of side project work going on too –

We’ve just announced a 19 September show at the Astor Theatre by The VHS Pirates, where we play all the big hits from blockbuster movies from the 80s. If you haven’t seen one of these shows, they’re a lot of fun…we play tracks like Footloose, Danger Zone, Don’t You Forget About Me, Ghostbusters, The Heat Is On, The Power of Love and I’ve Had The Time of My Life. Tickets are on sale here - and there’s a discount for groups of 6, so grab a bunch of friends and come along!
Kieran is gearing up for the debut album release later this year for his rockabilly band The Rough Housers. A couple of weeks ago they released the first single from the album, a track called Whiskey Will Do, you can check it out here.
Next week they’re performing a show at Valley Social for the Swan Hills Blues Club Thursday 28 May kicking off at 6pm supported by the amazing Kat Kinley. The band will be debuting tracks off the forthcoming album and will have a limited number of copies of their debut 45” single Life’s a Drag on clear vinyl! Tickets are on sale on the door.
This Thursday 21 May, Courtney will be guesting with his pals for Billy By Request, a show where the audience gets to choose their favourite Billy Joel songs for Courtney and band to perform. The show is at the beautiful Lyrics Underground in Maylands at 7pm – tickets available here.
And Chris will be heading down to the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (MANPAC) on Friday 29 May to join our other brother Michael Carpenter for a Tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival. Tickets and info here.
And as always, we’re already planning our next big outdoor show for the summer months. It promises to be one of our biggest yet…
So, you know, not much happening at all. Stay well, stay safe and we hope to see you out at a show or two soon.
Love Chris, Kieran and Courtney xxTMB
